express his thanks for the experience that Steve and Jeff provided for his son
Adam this summer as a member of the Parks crew.
RECREATION:
* Registrations for Fall activities are being taken. Flyers have been prepared and
are being distributed through the schools during this first week of school.
* Fall flag and touch football, soccer games and Fall softball league make up the
athletic activities to date. Volleyball, rollerblade hockey and basketball will fall
in line shortly.
•
* As co-convener for the Ramsey County Strategic Planning process (with the
Parks and Open Space group), I have attended and participated in two
meetings, with a third one planned for September 20, 1994. At this next
meeting I will be speaking to the group regarding cities'
cooperative/collaborative activities and partnerships.
CABLE TV:
* Jerry is obtaining price quotes for various equipment that can be applied in the
grant application which is due this week.
* In addition, Jerry is making copies of "Oliver" tapes which are in high demand.
GOLF COURSE:
* Mowing continues and increases as the grass germinates. The west end of the
course is well on its way and the east end is just beginning to germinate. Kurt
has opted to do some of the rough work along the side of the practice range
and mowing during the grow-in to save $5,000 in the base bid - which can be
used for additional fencing to be installed at the parking lot entry to provide
better security for the course.
* City resident Russ Ruzysnski has been offering his expertise in golf course
maintenance and has been assisting in carpentry work, golf course maintenance
and other activities. Russ is a "jack-of-all-trades" and has been a great asset at
the golf course. He had been working for many years at Hidden Haven Golf
Course but has made the move to the "Bridges" - to our benefit.
* The weather continues to be an asset. The course is growing in nicely. The
Clubhouse is on schedule. The tree replacements from the interceptor will be
planted during dormancy - by the Tree Trust. All goes well so far
Mary S.
