Housing
Phyllis recently spoke with Scott Wallin, a real estate agent who is a founding
member of the St. Paul Association of Responsible Landlords and also a member of
the St. Paul Association of Realtors. He was interested in Mounds View proposed
Nuisance Ordinance and its approach to multi-family housing rehab. After talking with
Phyllis, I contacted Scott and learned of his numerous involvements with cities that
are struggling to address aging housing stock and related problems of code
enforcement. He was excited about what we are doing and will have one of his staff
contact us to explore how their organization can assist us.
Friday is a holiday, so City Hall will be closed. Have a wonderful weekend and I will
see you on Monday!
Samantha
Silver Lake Pointe Project:
As a requirement under the Development Assistance Agreement for Silver Lake Pointe
Project, the EDA has the option to disapprove of the construction plans within 10
working days after the plans are submitted. The plans are assumed to be approved if
the developer is not given written notice within those 10 working days of submission.
Therefore, to allow the EDA to review the plans, the item has been added to the EDA
agenda for Monday night.
I realize that this item was not brought to the attention of the EDA at the work session
but it was brought to our attention by MSP Real Estate this week. They want to make
sure the plans are fully approved and have the support of both the City Building
Department and the EDA. A copy of the full 74 page plans for Silver Lake Pointe
Project will available for your review in the Administration Department, Conference
Room C over the holiday and weekend. Otherwise, a representative from the
development group will bring several full size tag boards for review at the EDA
meeting.
Approval of the plans should be fairly simple and does not in any way provide a
waiver or approval of the building permit process. In a conversation with Jeff Huggett
of MSP Real Estate he noted that if the building plans are approved and the EDA also
approves, they are expected to close on the project later next week. Once they close
the project can break ground soon after, hopefully before Thanksgiving.
Business Retention Program:
• I met with York International on Mustang Circle last week with Tim C. This is just
one of several national sales and service offices for York's parent company in
