On Thursday, December 1, Samantha and I will be
attending a workshop on transformnational leadership.
Price of Government Conference
On Wednesday, December 7, Samantha and I are scheduled to attend
the "Price of Government" Conference in Bloomington. The guest
speakers are Peter Hutchinson of the Public Strategies Group,
Laura King, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Finance,
and Morrie Anderson, Commissioner of the Minnesota Departnment of
Revenue.
Tim C.
Attraction:
• At the recommendation of Mayor Linke, resident Don Besonen came by to see if
we could find him new facility space for his food production business.
Currently, Mr. Besonen is traveling daily to Pine City where he is producing a
meat and potato pastry pie called D-Bes-Pasty. The pastry shell is distributed
frozen to companies such as Sysco, Kraft and Schwann. The facility space
must be Food & Drug Administration approved but there is no existing FDA
approved facilities currently in Mounds View. I will be working with
D-Bes-Pasty to find options for a combined production and retail operation.
Retail is not his expertise and he would prefer a partner into this new venture.
I'll keep you posted!
Business Retention Program:
• I met with George Winiecki of Win Insurance Agency last week. He is still
looking at options to develop his property and this is the reason he has not
upgraded his office. Mr. Winiecki definitely wants to have his business in
Mounds View at the current location. He is looking at a mixed retail and
professional office complex but would be interested in gaining the commitment
of an anchor tenant first. He also mentioned that he has several offers from car
dealers, gas stations and fast food restaurants to purchase his property but is
unable to pursue this option since the property is zoned for limited business.
suggested he present his ideas to the EDC to incorporate into the Highway 10
Redevelopment Plan.
• I attended the monthly North Metro Commission work session to discuss the
format of the final report for the Business Retention Program. The report will
outline the collective survey findings from all five cities who participated in the
