Retention Meetings:
• I met with J&W Industries this week. They are a distributor of industrial
products of which Honeywell products are their largest client. They are located
on Mustang Drive and have been in Mounds View since 1980. They were glad
to see a representative from Mounds View visit their facility but did have
complaints with regards to their water bill. He felt that commercial and
industrial companies, who use the majority of their water for landscaping,
should be charged at a lower rate for that portion. He was also very concerned
about Old Highway 8 and felt that realigning Old Highway 8 should be a priority
for the City before there is a major accident. Maybe we could get a collection
of letters from the businesses in the Mounds View Industrial Park off Old
Highway 8 to write letters to MnDot or State Representatives on the urgency of
improving and realigning Old Highway 8. I would appreciate any thoughts on this
by Council or Staff.
Cathy
PARKS,
RECREATION
AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
* The engine and clutch and compressor and other stuff is being put in the water truck. It
is quite an undertaking that is saving the City money with in-house installation. Hats off
to all the Parks and Public Works crews that have spent so much time and expertise on
rejuvenating the water truck. It's like a brand new truck.
* While Jeff & Steve and others have been working on the truck, Larry and Wally have
volunteered to do hose flooding of the rinks. What a great bunch of guys!!!
* The furnace guys are holding up our work at the park buildings - its like pulling teeth to
get them to finish these two small projects. That's the problem - the jobs are so small
that they are doing them when time is available during other larger projects. We gave
them the "big" talk and hopefully they will get in there and finish the furnaces. Then the
carpenter can finish his work. (The furnaces go under the flooring so they need to be
installed when the floor is up - but that joist work has long been done). They all know
that we need to be up and running Friday, December 23 - when rinks open!!!
