• Dorothy Peterson will be on vacation July 12 - 14.
• Staff is busy preparing first drafts of enterprise funds budgets. These include
Water, Wastewater, Street Light, Surface Water, Golf Course, and Recreation
Activity.
Don B.
PUBLIC WORKS
* Advertisement for slurry seal bids will be run in the New Brighton Bulletin, July
19. Bids will be opened July 31, 1995, 10:01 am.
* The Sewer Department discovered, during their routine infrastructure
maintenance, a broken main on Knollwood Drive. (In front of 6969 Knollwood
Drive to be exact.) If this break wasn't discovered as promptly as it was, it
could and would of been very costly to repair. As it stands now, they are
having a problem dewatering the area due to the fine sand.
* Lead and Copper samples were delivered July 10th. We are picking them up
July 12 and 13. They will then be delivered to Twin City Water Clinic for
testing. The results will be sent to the Department of Health, Public Water
Supply Unit. After they process the paper work, we will be notified of the
results. Last year, we were notified in September of the results.
* Paperwork is being submitted to the Minnesota Department of Revenue,
Petroleum Division, to become a "Special Fuel Licensed Dealer". Meaning, the
legislature eliminated the alternate fuel permit that we use to get every year for
our propane fueled vehicles and has imposed a special fuel tax instead. We
will a) need to become a Special Fuel Licensed Dealer, $25.00 every year and
b) fill out a monthly report of our propane fuel consumption and pay the
necessary tax. (15 cents per gallon.) These funds will be transferred
electronically.
* We had a nice compliment from a resident on Clifton Drive, on our street
patching. He was very impressed with the way the guys went out of their way
to patch a whole area instead of "quick" patches here and there.
Tracy Juell
