(PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br /> PARKS: <br /> * The crew continues to mow and prepare athletic fields on a daily basis, along <br /> with trash removals, special projects and repairs. <br /> * One parks seasonal heads back to school this week. Next week will be the last <br /> week for the other park summer seasonal employees. <br /> * Silver View Park parking lot is being prepared for a slurry seal. <br /> * The Cushman is down for repairs - needing brakework. This old machine is <br /> taking a lot of labor time for repairs which is typical of older vehicles. <br /> * The seasonal park crew's prank incident which occurred Tuesday, August 22 <br /> caused much anxiety. Great concern was expressed by all the employees and <br /> Council members regarding the persons involved. Both Police Chief Ramacher <br /> and I have talked with each of the workers. Each have expressed remorse. They <br /> did not have any idea that the prank would have the ending that it did. The <br /> workers have prepared a letter of apology to all the agencies that responded, to <br /> staff, and City Council members. In addition, they have apologized to their fellow <br /> worker. They have reputations as good young men, good workers and good <br /> friends. This experience has taught them a lesson that they will not forget. <br /> RECREATION: <br /> * This week was devoted to preparation of the Fall Newsletter. The youth soccer <br /> program began with practices. <br /> GOLF COURSE: <br /> * Finalists from the prior interview process for the Golf Course Superintendent <br /> position have been contacted. Two of those finalists were interested in meeting <br /> to discuss options for working the last two months of the golf season. Mike <br /> Mueller and I met with both to get a feel for the options and their concerns and <br /> suggestions. We will meet with Samantha when she returns from vacation to <br /> discuss the possibilities. <br /> * A new cash register system has been ordered for the golf course to replace the <br />
