•
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
PARKS:
* Steve and Jeff have been working on woodchipping and woodchip cleanup. A
large willow tree blew over onto the path at Silver View. The willow was very
large and was messy to cleanup because of the long stringy branches that are
hard to chip.
* Athletic field lining and grooming, spot mowing and trash removal continue
throughout the Fall.
* Work was finalized on the City Hall youth athletic field. Sprinkling is set to
establish initial grass growth before a hard freeze sets in.
RECREATION :
* Several Fall programs including swimming instruction began this week. Flyers
were prepared and distributed to the schools regarding after-school programs.
Registrations have been received.
* An increase in credit card registration has been experienced this Fall. The
credit card process has really caught on.
FORESTRY:
* Rick and crew transplanted trees to the golf course as donated by
Councilmember Quick. In addition, Rick has inspected three calls received by
residents regarding tree transplant donations. Some trees are transplantable
while others are not. These calls were in response to an article in the City
Newsletter as suggested by Councilmember Quick.
GOLF COURSE:
* John and I will meet with Tom Howard from Bridgco, the construction company
contracted for the Boardwalk at The Bridges Golf Course this Thursday
morning. The boardwalk boards have a tendency to warp and become loose,
the posts in boggy areas sink and the boardwalk is not level. Although the
boardwalk was constructed as specified in the plans, it seems that pilings,
footings or alternative reinforced surface stability will be necessary to ensure
stability of the boardwalk.
