Attraction:
• Attached is a summary report of the attraction requests I have responded to
from both general inquiries and through Metro East Development Partnership.
This gives you an indication of the wide spectrum of requests and need for a
variety of space. I continue to work closely with Metro East, NSP, Everest,
etc. to identify possibilities for the business park, watson property and retail
space.
Highway 10 Subcommittee:
• The Highway 10 Subcommittee will be meeting this week to review more
corridor-plans-from-Hopkins and-Burnsville and- identify current and-prospective
----
users of Highway 10. Ramsey County will be at the meeting to discuss their
role in redevelopment of highways. The discussion is under the premise the
Highway 10 will be turned back to the County in the future. Ramsey County
will also bring a representative who is currently working on the redevelopment of
Highway 96. In addition, the committee is scheduled to take a bus tour on
April 28th beginning at 8:00 am. The tour will go through several
redevelopment areas of those Cities whose plans the committee has reviewed.
Business/School Linkages:
• Jan Quick and I have been contacting several local businesses for participation
in an apprenticeship program that Northeast Metro Technical would like to
implement in the area. We have peaked the interest of several businesses and
will be having a meeting to discuss the program on May 11th, 7:30 am in the
City Council Chambers. A Fridley High School representative and the Steinwall
Corporation will be in attendance to discuss the parameters of the program and
how it has proven to be a success for the student, high school and
manufacturing company. We will be sending out invitations to the meeting so
mark your calendars if you are interested in attending.
Mounds View Business Association:
• I am working with Mark Malone on putting together speakers for business
association meetings throughout the rest of the year. We have chosen the
following dates for meetings -- May 25, July 20, Sept 21 and Nov. 16. All of
the meetings will be from 11 :30-1 :00 and will be held at the Mermaid or
Donatelle's. Each luncheon will feature a positive speaker relating to the
business environment. This is an effort to bring new life to the business
association and keep the topics positive and informative. I would appreciate
any ideas on speakers that I could pursue.
Cathy
