service and other commitments) for currently proposed TIF projects and City initiated
economic development projects (housing rehab, senior housing, Hwy. 10) in each of
the districts plus the financial impact of pooling.
The Council may want to consider calling a special meeting for Tuesday, March 22nd
to review the proposal. We can discuss this more at Monday's work session.
National League of Cities Congressional Conference
Just a reminder that I will be attending the Conference from March 11th through
March 16th. I will be back in the office on Thursday, March 17th. Tim Cruikshank will
be in charge during my absence. I just hope I have some furniture left in my office by
the-time-I return - - - -
Rice Creek Watershed
I will be having lunch next week with Kate Drewry, Administrator for Rice Creek
Watershed, to discuss Judicial Ditch No. 1. This will be the first of many meetings with
RCWD to determine a cost effective method of cleaning up the ditch prior to the
opening of our course.
CDBG Interview for Senior Housing Project
I have been scheduled next week to present the City's request for CDBG funding for
the Senior Housing Project. I won't guess at our chances because the primary
funding sources Westminster is using (MN Housing Finance Agency Tax Credits) will
not be determined until July. That muddies the waters a bit, but the project is certainly
one of the best examples of what CDBG funds were intended to accomplish. Keep
your fingers crossed.
CONGRATULATIONS to Bill Hanggi who has successfully passed his Class B Water
License Test. Good Job, Bill!
Samantha
FOCUS 2000 UPDATE
The Focus 2000 Steering Committee had their first meeting on 2/24. Georgine
Madden from ProSource presented the general framework for drafting the Vision and
Mission Statements. Members present were Dan Nelson, Bill Wilson, Stefan Benson
and Bob Easton. Brian Sjoberg and Gayla Shoemake should also be in attendance
at the remainder of the meetings. At the next meeting on 3/3, we will be getting
started on the first phase of determining what the Vision and the Mission of the
Community should be.
