Mounds View City Council October 11, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />meet certain community needs jointly identified by the city and the Church that would be “in 1 <br />harmony” with their mission and values. 2 <br /> 3 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated representatives from the City, the Community Center and the 4 <br />Park & Rec Commission met with representatives from Bethlehem Baptist Church on September 5 <br />15, 2010 to discuss potential funding opportunities for the second half 2010 service project fund 6 <br />donation which totaled $16,892. A number of programs and improvements which had been 7 <br />reviewed by the Park and Recreation Commission and City Council were highlighted for 8 <br />Bethlehem’s consideration. Subsequent to the meeting, the Church responded with a letter dated 9 <br />September 30, 2010, recommending the following disbursement schedule: 10 <br /> 11 <br />1. New Picnic Tables and concrete slabs at City Parks $2,077 12 <br />2. Support for Teen Center at the MV Community Center $8,000 13 <br />3. Sidewalk and ADA Improvements at the Community Center $4,000 14 <br /> 4. Activities supporting the economic climate of the City $2,815 15 <br /> 16 <br />City Administrator Ericson recommended approval of the resolution which accepts the donation 17 <br />from Bethlehem Baptist Church in the amount of $16,892 and authorizes the distribution of the 18 <br />donations according to the Church’s recommendations. He thanked Bethlehem Baptist for 19 <br />working with the City and giving so generously to the community’s needs. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Marshall Seagal, Bethlehem Baptist, thanked the Council for their time this evening and stated 22 <br />the church has been greatly blessed by the partnership with the City. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Vince Johnson, Bethlehem Baptist, introduced himself and thanked the Council for their 25 <br />commitment to the community. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Council Member Gunn thanked them both for their commitment to bettering the community. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated the funds from Bethlehem Baptist greatly benefit the City 30 <br />and the funds allocated for the sidewalk at the community center were a true blessing. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked both gentlemen for attending the meeting this evening. He thanked 33 <br />Bethlehem Baptist for the generous donation to the City. 34 <br /> 35 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull.
