<br /> <br />www.ci.mounds-view.mn.us <br />5 <br /> <br />Dept News, Cont’d <br /> <br />Members of the department conducted a DNR gun safety hunter education course for young <br />adults. Students must be a minimum of 11 years to attend. The class consists of 17 hours of <br />classroom in safe firearm handling, first aid and hunter responsibility. The course concludes <br />with live fire on the gun range and all successful students receive a certificate of completion. <br />10 students completed the course this fall. This class is always well attended and <br />appreciation is extended to Officers Berling, Hellpap, Zender and Wolf for their dedicated <br />efforts. <br /> <br /> <br /> Officer Zender and Investigator Hellpap provide instruction on the range to students. <br /> <br /> <br />The police department hosted a Community Notification meeting on September 29, 2010 due <br />to the release of a level 3 predatory offender. This meeting included information presented <br />from the Department of Corrections, the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center, school officials <br />and law enforcement. The meeting was well attended by residents and was also recorded for <br />later broadcast on local cable TV. <br />
