City of Mounds View Comprehensive Plan <br />________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Chapter 9: Implementation <br /> <br />9-3 <br />Future Actions for Implementation <br /> <br />The City will take the following actions: <br /> <br />Land Use <br /> <br />1. The City will review its codes including zoning, subdivision, and housing codes on a <br />regular basis to address and correct inconsistencies with the comprehensive plan. <br /> <br />2. Continue focusing on redevelopment opportunities in the County Highway 10 corridor. <br /> <br />3. Adopt and implement an updated Local Surface Water Management Plan. <br /> <br />4. Continue working with Rice Creek Watershed District to protect area wetlands and <br />water resources. <br /> <br />Housing <br /> <br />The housing program will include, but will not be limited to, housing maintenance, neighborhood <br />preservation and renewal, financial assistance, life cycle and affordable housing and owner education. <br />Specific actions the City will undertake to meet the housing goals and needs include: <br /> <br />1. The City acknowledges the need for more affordable housing in the metropolitan area, <br />and its allocated share of 81 additional units of affordable housing to be built by 2020. <br /> <br />2. Continue existing housing programs and develop new programs to improve all elements <br />of the housing stock in Mounds View. <br /> <br />3. Continue to partner with the Housing Resource Center and other agencies to fund <br />programs to maintain existing housing stock and to provide new housing. <br /> <br />4. Maintain the housing stock within Metropolitan Council Livable Community Act <br />benchmarks. <br /> <br />5. Encourage opportunities to provide additional “move up” and life-cycle housing. <br /> <br />6. Work with the Metropolitan Airports Commission to provide noise attenuation for <br />residences impacted by aircraft noise. <br />
