Reports of Mayor and Council. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Mayor Flaherty commented on the successful Fall Family Fun Day at the Community Center that 26 <br />was enjoyed by over 200 people and listed the sponsors who contributed. He announced the 27 <br />December 12, 2009, Winter Family Fun Day and encouraged residents to participate. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Mueller reported on the Irondale football homecoming game and outstanding 30 <br />half time show. She encouraged residents to attend an upcoming football game. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Mueller referenced a Star Tribune article about contracted garbage service that 33 <br />would result in a cost saving to residents and lower the number of garbage trucks using City 34 <br />streets. She asked for resident input on a contracted garbage service if it results in a cost savings. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Mayor Flaherty asked staff to schedule this discussion at the next Council Work Session. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Council Member Gunn stated this was discussed years ago when it was decided to limit pick up 39 <br />to one day a week. She read statistics on the number of cars equivalent to one garbage truck and 40 <br />the impact to the City’s streets. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Council Member Mueller referenced the League of Minnesota Cities publication that lists tax 43 <br />information of 854 municipalities. She noted that Mounds View’s tax per person in 2008 44 <br />averaged $284, and for cities of the same size the average was $310 per person. 45
