e. Accommodations will be made to facilitate safe pedestrian and <br /> bicycle crossings at major intersections; <br /> f. Special provisions for pedestrian and bicycle access and circulation <br /> shall be planned in areas adjoining schools, parks, churches and <br /> service centers and commercial centers. <br /> g. When economically feasible, provide facilities for pedestrians and <br /> bicyclists in conjunction with street improvements projects. <br /> h. Where possible, provide bicyclists a right-of-way separated from <br /> both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. <br /> i . Designate the appropriate mode of travel in each segment of the <br /> system (sidewalk-trail-street) by adequate signage. <br /> r• The community's pedestrian and bicycle system shall be related <br /> to those being provided by adjoining communities and throughout <br /> the metropolitan area. <br /> k. Ensure that pedestrian street crossings on heavily traveled,, <br /> streets are clearly marked and lighted. <br /> Goal 7: Coordinate all City transportation planning with County, Metropolitan Council, <br /> Metropolitan Transit Commission, State, Federal, and other local transportation plans. <br /> Policies: a. Maintain and improve the existing line of communication with <br /> county and state highway officials in order to ensure that planned <br /> improvements are consistent with the goals and objectives of the <br /> community. <br /> b. The City will consider the use of its resources to assist in the <br /> resolution of metropolitan transprtation problems. <br /> c. Coordinate pathway system with adjacent neighboring communities. <br /> Goal 8: Each street in the City will be classified and developed according to the <br /> adopted metropolitan classifications and standards. <br /> Policies: a. Design transportation facilities to conserve resources and other <br /> existing man-made facilities and minimize the total need for on- <br /> going public investment. <br /> b.
