PERSONNEL
Monday, 4/4, was Cathy and Jennifer's first day with the City and we have been busy
acclimating them to their new environs. There was a reception to greet them on
Monday morning, they have been introduced to city staff, they have been meeting
with department heads to learn about each department and they have been given
tours of the City. It has been a full week for both of them and I'm sure they will need
some time to absorb everything that has been presented to them.
The number of applications received for the Public Works Maintenance Worker has
been tallied and the final count is 109. We have begun sorting out those applications
that meet minimum requirements and those that don't. The plan is to begin
interviewing-by mid-next week-(4/-11).
To date we have received 95 applications for the Golf Course Superintendent
position. The deadline is 4/11. I will keep you posted as to the status of the interview
process.
On Thursday, Tracy Juell and I will interview a couple of candidates to fill in for her
while she is on parental leave. This is a temporary position that will last
approximately 6 months. Tracy's scheduled due date is 4/28/94.
Staff will be receiving a remedial training session on the operation of the telephone
system on Thursday afternoon. It has been over a year since the new system was
installed and a refresher course will renew our abilities to efficiently and effectively
serve those who call City Hall.
Samantha and I will be meeting with Cy Smythe of Labor Relations on Thursday to
prepare for the Teamsters negotiations.
Tim C.
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
Grading has been completed on each of the fields except Edgewood, which we hope
to complete by the end of the week. Each field is in great need of ag-lime and
therefore several loads of ag-lime have been delivered and leveled out. Edgewood
needs a more fine-cut grader for the trim work around the infield grass edges and for
that reason will be done separately.
Steve and Jeff will be replacing many of the base pegs, homeplates and pitching
rubbers as needed. Also, trash barrels, player bench inspections and fencing
