Airport Update
It appears that the Metropolitan Airport Commission is once again pursuing the
expansion of the Anoka Airport. Cathy attended a meeting last week regarding MAC's
implementation of their Master Plan.
Andover Landfill or, if one lawsuit is over, can another be
far behind?
Yep, it's another landfill lawsuit. I received notification from the law firm representing
the PRP group naming the City of Mounds View as a contributor to the landfill. They
maintain that they have trip tickets indicating that the City hauled to the site. They
have--"graciously"-extended-a settlement-offer-of $12,000-to-cover-our-part_of the site
clean-up. Prior to discussing this matter in more depth at the May 2nd Work Session,
I will be requesting copies of their "proof" as well as contacting other cities in the area
to determine if there will be a collective course of action similar to the Oak Grove
settlement.
CDBG Funding for Senior Housing Project
It appears that the City will not be receiving the $155,000 in HUD money for purchase
of the land for the senior housing project. The severe restrictions of that program made the project much more
costly, requiring additional funding. It was the opinion of the developer that the
project under the Home Loan program was "undoable" with current City and investor
subsidies. The County has been informed of the City's "displeasure" at the process by
which our application was diverted to another funding source and the lack of
information provided by the County regarding the process by which applications will
be reviewed. Mayor Linke has approached Commissioner Wedell about the inequities
in the process, but it appears that we are not going to see any portion of the money
we requested.
Update on house across from Hardee's
Just to update you I have not been successful in talking with the owner of the
home regarding his willingness to sell his property. I continue to leave messages and
expect that one of these days we will stop playing phone tag.
Samantha
PERSONNEL
Golf Course Superintendent
Mary Saarion and I have gone through all of the Golf Course Superintendent
applications and have separated those that meet the minimum qualifications and
