1. An up and coming biopharmaceutical company is looking for a 40,000 s.f. site for
their corporate headquarters. This would be an excellent company to attract to
Mounds View but competition is fierce. I have asked for proposals from both
Everest Development and Watson Investments and will submit them with a cover
letter from the City. The letter will relay a strong interest to assist with the location
of the company using Tax Increment Financing. I will discuss this matter at the
EDA work session on Monday.
2. An out of state restaurant is looking to tap the Midwest market specifically in the
St. Paul metro area. I have forward this request to Paster Enterprises for potential
location in Mounds View Square. They were especially interested in a high traffic
area which is suitable for the Highway 10 corridor.
3. Everest Development is working with a St. Paul-area company looking to lease
60,000-70,000 s.f. build-to-suit office\production\warehouse space. Everest is
interested in securing TIF funds to construct the building for this company. They
are in the preliminary stages and will come to us with a proposal at a later date.
Retention Efforts:
I met with Edward Paster of Paster Enterprises this week. They are signing a lease
with Mario's Movies and Games for the south west corner of Mounds View Square.
The Planning Commission will be reviewing their sign proposal this week. In addition,
as you can see, Mounds View Square is having a mini carnival this week through
Sunday.
Paul and I met with Wolf & Associates regarding expansion this week. Wolf &
Associates would like to reconfigure their building to alleviate the disturbance to the
manufactured home park to the south of the facility and have presented a design that
would fit both their expansion and the needs of the residents. I will discuss their
proposed concept at the EDA work session.
I will be meeting with Community Resource Partnerships this week to review the
survey questionnaire and discuss the schedule for the Community Partnership
Program. In addition, the Governor signed the legislation, submitted by
Representative Geri Evans, appropriating funds for a $35,000 matching grant for
Mounds View and New Brighton to participate in the North Metro Business Retention
and Expansion Program.
Outreach:
Jennifer and I attended the Community Reinvestment Fund (CRF) Minnesota
Campaign Kick-Off. CRF has secured a $3 million grant which will allow them to
leverage $15 million to assist community development lenders access the secondary
market plus provide a whole host of other services. This program could be extremely
beneficial to the City once we set up revolving loan funds and housing programs.
