3. Kurt has been calling for bids on equipment and vehicles necessary for golf <br /> course work now and for the next couple of months. This is an item on the <br /> Council meeting agenda. <br /> Mary S. <br /> FINANCE <br /> • The Department will be purchasing new fixed asset software from TR Systems. <br /> The software will enable us to produce all reports needed for the <br /> Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; something we could not do with our <br /> old software. Many reports had to be done manually with the old software. <br /> We are looking forward to this new software. <br /> • Two diskettes that have budget information on them are missing from my <br /> office. If someone borrowed them, please return them. <br /> • Staff continues to work on the Long Term Financial Plan and the 1995 Budget. <br /> It is a challenge to develop a new program budget and also a lot of work. <br /> Hopefully the budget will be more meaningful to Councilmembers and to the <br /> public than previous budgets. <br /> • The problems of the Minnesota Municipal Money Market(4M) Fund, managed <br /> by Piper Capital Management, and of Cities who have invested in it, has been <br /> in the news lately. The City does not have any money invested in the 4M <br /> Fund. All of the City's investments are made with one major goal in mind, <br /> ensure the return of your investment. Interest earnings are definitely a <br /> consideration, but are secondary to return of the amount invested. <br /> Don <br /> POLICE <br /> * In recent weeks, the City has had a number of auto thefts and thefts from <br /> autos. We identified four to six juveniles responsible for the majority of these <br /> crimes. They were arrested for auto theft on two consecutive days. Last night, <br /> they were out and we arrested them for curfew violations. Hopefully the <br /> system will kick in and they will be held accountable. <br /> * The Chief and a certain Councilmember spent a great deal of time last week <br />
