November 24, 2008 Item No. 7J
Page 3
x The spacing of lighting units was increased as directed by City Council at
their July 7, 2008 Work Session.
x The seed restoration was reduced further in scope. The initial plan for
seeding was to expand seeding areas and mixes in attempt maintain the
theme that had been developed by the restoration work done with the
construction of Trail Segments 9 and 10. The seeding areas were
reduced to only those areas disturbed during construction. This reduction
in seed area resulted in additional cost savings for the project.
Cost Estimate
The estimated project cost based on the scope of work as ordered by the City Council
under Resolution 7279 on June 9, 2008 was $1,274,512.
The following table shows the reduction in project cost achieved by the further
modifications in scope since that time:
County Road 10: Trail Segments 1-5
Summary of Estimated Project Cost
Total Project Cost Estimate:
Feasibility Report (Reduced Scope) – June 9, 2008 $1,274,512
Further reductions in scope:Cost Saving
Eliminating trail realignment – Segment A -$49,000.00
Elimination of Retaining Walls -$25,300.00
Increased Spacing of Lighting Units -$36,700.00
Reduced Seeding Areas -$52,000.00
Total Project Cost Savings Due to Reductions - $163,000
Revised Report Cost with Reductions $1,111,512
Current Engineers Estimate – Based on Plans $1,044,906
The current estimated project cost, based on the construction plans, is $1,044,906. A
detailed cost estimate is included with this Staff Report. The estimate does include all
anticipated project costs such as design, inspection, administration, and legal.
The current estimated project cost is approximately 6% less than the cost estimate from
the reduced scope of the Feasibility Report.
