Administrator Report
Nov 24, 2008
Page 3

7. Dec 1 Work Session Agenda.

There are presently only four items listed on the December work session agenda:

1. Sign Code Update
2. Discussion of Possible Business Registration program
3. 2008 Comprehensive Plan Update Presentation and Review
4. Cable TV Equipment Purchases

It is possible, depending upon how the discussion regarding the first reading of the sign code
ordinance progresses, that the first item may not need to be discussed again at a work
session. The second item is a draft program put together by Building official/Fire Marshal
Osmonson to help get a better handle on our business owners and leased space tenants.
Often times there are situations which necessitate communication to responsible parties and
the level of the information we have on file is often insufficient. The Comprehensive Plan
was reviewed jointly by the Planning Commission and Comprehensive Plan Taskforce
Wednesday, November 19. Aside from some formatting issues and minor tweaks, both
bodies expressed their support and the Planning Commission adopted a resolution in
support of the draft, again, with minor amendments. This discussion may take some time
thus it is fortunate that the agenda is “light”. The final item is to review proposed cable TV
equipment purchases. Vanessa will be presenting this item for your review and discussion.

7. Committee and Commission Vacancies

As a reminder to everyone, we are accepting applications to the Planning Commission,
Economic Development Commission, Police Civil Service Commission, Streets and Utility
Committee and the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission. Applications will be
accepted through Dec 1, 2008 with applications reviewed by the Council on December 8th.
The list of available seats is available on the City’s website, has been published in both local
newspapers, and has been scrolled on the cable channel. Spots are also open on the
Charter Commission however those appointments are made by the Ramsey County District
Judge.

Respectfully submitted,

________________________
James Ericson
Clerk - Administrator
