Erickson, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8752, Accept Quotes and Authorize Contract for Storm <br />Sewer Repairs on County Road H2 <br /> <br />Introduction: <br />The City Council is asked to approve the attached resolution accepting the quotes received and <br />authorizing a contract for storm sewer repairs on County Road H2. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />Earlier this spring, staff responded to a sunken manhole on County Road H2 near the intersection <br />with Spring Lake Road. During the temporary repairs, staff noted that the storm structure was in <br />poor condition and the two of the lines entering the manhole were partially crushed. As a result <br />this structure needs to be replaced along with new pipe to replace the damaged sections. Staff <br />contacted two contractors, Douglas-Kerr Underground, Inc. and Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. <br />for quotes. <br /> <br />Rank Mechanical Contractor Quote Amount <br />Low Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. $30,946.00 <br />2 Douglas-Kerr Underground, Inc. $31,000.00 <br /> <br />Funding for this work would come from the Storm Water System Maintenance Budget, 745-4415- <br />5150, Repairs and Maintenance Utilities. This budget item currently has a total of $30,000 for <br />maintenance and repair and an additional $25,000 for storm sewer slip lining. There is sufficient <br />funding to complete this work. This is essential work as further deterioration is possible during <br />future rain events. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing a construction <br />contract with Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $30,946.00 in order to repair the <br />storm sewer on County Road H2. Staff further recommends a 10% contingency of $3,000.00 for <br />additional work resulting from unknown conditions discovered during repairs. The total budget is <br />not to exceed $33,946.00. All contingency funding would require pre-approval by the Public <br />Works Director. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Brian L.
