<br />Public Works Supervisor Position Description Page 3/6 <br /> Review and Mmake recommendations to the Public Works Director involving relating to the <br />hiring, transferring, suspension, promotion, discharge, assignments, reward, or discipline of <br />assigned personnelPublic Works employees. <br /> Manage personnel matters relating to attendance, overtime, vacation, sick leave, and after- <br />hours “on-call” staffing, including the review and approval of timesheets and leave <br />requests.Monitors and approves timecards, attendance, overtime, vacations, holidays, sick <br />leave, leaves of absence, etc. Evaluate and investigate complaints against employees. <br />Keeps the Public Works Director promptly informed of significant matters in areas of <br />accountability and recommend action. <br /> Answer questionsAddress and resolves problems and complaints from the public and <br />attempt to resolve them in a timely and courteous manner. <br /> Occasionally operate light and heavy equipment and assist division personnel with <br />completing job tasks and activities. <br /> Attend meetings, seminars, or other training.s City Council meetings as requested. <br /> Performs other work related to the positionduties and responsibilities as apparent or <br />assigned by the Public Works Director. Assume duties of Public Works Director during short- <br />term absences. <br /> <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br />Responds to citizen requests and complaints in a manner consistent with City policies and <br />regulation and maintains positive community relations. <br />Prepares and submits periodic reports as requested. <br />Keeps Public Works Director informed of all important matters which must be known to <br />effectively manage the City's Public Works operations. <br />Performs other responsibilities as apparent or as delegated. <br />Promotes a favorable image of the City and department through services provided. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education and Experience <br /> High sSchool diploma or GED, and two years post-secondary education at a and additional <br />vocational school, college, or university. training or equivalent work experience. <br /> Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing, operating, maintaining, <br />and/or constructing public works infrastructure, facilities, buildings, parks, and/or vehicles.in <br />Public Works maintenance. <br /> Three years supervisory experience with a Ddemonstrated ability to direct and supervise the <br />work of a wide variety of personnel. <br />Valid Class D driver’s license and ability to obtain Class B license within one year of hire. <br /> Two years working knowledge of municipal government experience. <br /> See “Special Requirements” for additional qualifications regarding licensures. <br /> <br />PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Construction Management, Civil <br />Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or other related field. or a <br />combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to a degree. <br />Experience in municipal budget preparation on a department level. <br /> Four Five years or more of supervisory experience.
