Mounds View City Council December 11, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 18 <br /> <br />Council Member Flaherty clarified that there is nothing that states that they are overpaid but that 1 <br />they are slightly over the median. He then said that Human Resources has discussed this and will 2 <br />address it in the future but they are not overpaid just slightly over the median. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Mayor Marty agreed that overpaid was not a good choice of words. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Thomas said that she does not feel that there are any employees that are 7 <br />overpaid at this time. She then said that she would like to say that some of this pay equity would 8 <br />not be necessary if the City had one Department Head that was female and she understands the 9 <br />state law but she is frustrated by the segregation that this causes and the categorizing of the job 10 <br />pools as gender roles. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that this gender equity is required by state law and then he 13 <br />commented that the reason that these are being pulled up higher is because of the Police 14 <br />Department and Public Works which are all male. 15 <br /> 16 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. 17 <br /> 18 <br /> J. Resolution 6986, Approving Severance for Kimberly Blackford, 19 <br /> Mounds View Communications Coordinator 20 <br /> 21 <br />City Administrator Ulrich indicated that this is a severance payment for Ms. Kimberly Blackford. 22 <br /> 23 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Thomas. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 6986, 24 <br />Approving Severance for Kimberly Blackford, Mounds View Communications Coordinator. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mayor Marty indicated that this employee did tender her resignation and the balance of her 27 <br />vacation time was 13.91 hours for $270.69. 28 <br /> 29 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays -0 Motion carried. 30 <br /> 31 <br /> K. Resolution 6987, Approving a Step Increase for Don Burda, Full-Time 32 <br />Temporary Building Inspector, Officer Ben Knitter, Mounds View Police 33 <br />Officer, and Justin Solberg, Mounds View Public Service Officer. 34 <br /> 35 <br />City Administrator Ulrich read Resolution 6987, Approving a Step Increase for Don Burda, Full-36 <br />Time Temporary Building Inspector, Officer Ben Knitter, Mounds View Police Officer, and 37 <br />Justin Solberg, Mounds View Public Service Officer. 38 <br /> 39 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Gunn.
