Item No: 08J <br />Meeting Date: March 12, 2007 <br /> Type of Business: CA <br />City Administrator Review: ______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant to the City Administrator <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7046 Approving Robin Marion to the Police Civil Service <br />Commission <br /> <br />The Police Civil Service Commission is comprised of three (3) Commission seats each <br />serving a three-year term. One seat is currently vacant (Mari Milewski Shay’s seat). Staff <br />advertised for one seat in the New Brighton/Mounds View Bulletin in January of 2007. <br />Numerous phone calls were made to Ms. Shay’s residence, and Staff received no phone <br />calls or correspondence from her stating her intentions. <br /> <br />Attached is a Memo that was sent to the Mounds View City Council stating that Staff <br />received one application for the Police Civil Service Commission vacant seat. The City’s <br />Municipal Code states that based on the recommendation of the Commissions “the <br />Mayor, with the approval of the City Council, shall appoint a Chairperson for each <br />respective Commission.” If the Mayor does not pick from the applicants, then the <br />application stays on file for 12 months. All applications that are 12 months or older are <br />destroyed. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />The Mayor and the City Council reviewed the application received per Memorandum <br />dated February 17, 2007.
