Page 2
Transmission:
Our specification asked for a two speed, low 0-7 and high 0-12 mph,
Hydrostatic Drive. The two speeds will enable us to drive to the
location of our work vs trailering. By eliminating the trailer
option, we save in the cost of buying a trailer, tie downs and
valuable time in labor; also the safety involved in transporting
and the liabilities.
Safety Equipment:
The safety of any piece of equipment is always the foremost concern
with the operator and the operation of that equipment. Three (3)
of our spPrt£ir_atinns wore not in compliance on the Gehl machine.
1. Removable emergency exit panel in the roof. In the event
of a rollover the operator will be able to escape from the
machine if the front entrance is blocked, either by the
bucket, cab door or foreign object.
2. The lift arm stops are not operational from the operator's
seat making it possible to lower the lift arms while exiting
if the operator makes an errant move.
3 . Seat belt interlock does not allow any operating of the
machine unless the operator is in the seat with the seat belt
fastened. Gehi's unit only requires that a safety bar lock be
in position prior to any operation and not the seat belt.
Performance Ratings:
Dump reach at 45 degree angle to enhance complete emptying of
bucket and center loading of dump trucks - machine bid only has 37
degree angle.
Overall height 6 feet 5 inches - machine bid was 6 feet 10 inches:
lower height could mean more accessibility and will lower the
center of gravity thus lessening the chance of a rollover.
Wheelbase 48 inches - machine bid was 42 inches: longer wheelbase
improves stability.
Operating weight 5,841Ibs - mac ilk rie lid-was 6;855 lbs: almost 1000
lbs more will increase compaction and possibly deep wheel tracks in
grass areas.
We asked all bidders to include the following alternates to their
bids. These accessories will enhance the utilization of our
skidloader and make some operations safer.
42 inch Utility Forks:
For unloading and loading materials in confined areas and for
transporting material to destinations where our loader will create
more damage to the grass or add compactions.
