The cost estimate based on the plans and specifications for the total combined project -for both Mounds View and Spring Lake Park is $307,700. Mounds View’s share of this would be 63.6% – or $195,697.20. This is comparable to the figure of $195,700 given in the feasibility report. As stated in the report, these figures are probably conservative now that this is officially a combined project. The final cost allocations will be based on the actual project costs. Advertise for Bids – As per state statute, with an estimated contract amount in excess of $100,000, publication must be made at least three weeks before the last day to submit bids. The advertisement must be published at least once in the official newspaper and at least once in either a trade paper or a newspaper that is published in a first class city. Given this, Staff seeks authorization to advertise for bids. Bid Date – A June 21, 2007, 10:00 a.m. bid date will provide ample time to provide the required notification to contractors as per state statute. Project Schedule – The current project schedule is as follows: May 29, 2007 City Council approves Plans and Specifications, sets a June 21, 2007 bid date, and authorizes the advertisement for bids June 21, 2007 Bids Received (Thursday 10:00 AM, Mounds View City Hall) June 25, 2007 Award Construction Contract July 16, 2007 Project Begins July / August 2007 Initial Sweeping – three days after application. Second sweeping – 30 days after application September 1, 2007 Project Completed Recommendation: It is recommended the City Council adopt a resolution approving the plans and specifications, setting a bid date, and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the 2007 Seal Coat Project.
