Option #5: Allow open hauling as we have now, but require that pick-
ups be done on specified days in each area of the city. Hauler
would continue to do all billings.
Pros:
• Residents would be able to use the hauler that they choose.
• Trucks would be in a given area only one day per week.
• Minimal public education needed to enforce new ordinance.
• All haulers currently operating in the City could continue
to do so; no loss of license fees to the City.
Cons:
• Truck traffic on pick-up day would be very heavy; no
decrease in pollution or wear on roads.
• Recycling would continue Lo be dune by eight different
haulers . This makes public education efforts difficult, as
each hauler collects different materials .
• City could not ensure that all households are being serviced
by a hauler.
• Data collection for state and county agencies would continue
to be tedious and difficult.
