<br />Item No: 7K <br />Meeting Date: 06/26/06 <br /> Type of Business: Council Business <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6863 Approving the Communications Coordinator to <br />Attend the NATOA Conference in Florida <br /> <br />Background: <br />This item was reviewed and discussed at the June 5th Council work session, and <br />considered at the June 12th (as Resolution 6841), but was not adopted because it failed <br />to achieve the three affirmative votes required by the City Charter. <br /> <br />It is being requested that consideration be given to authorizing Communication <br />Coordinator Kimberly Blackford to attend the National Association of <br />Telecommunications Officers and Advisor’s (NATOA) annual conference August 22-25, <br />2006 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. <br /> <br />The Resolution has been revised to reflect a limit of $1,000 of City Funding to be used for <br />this purpose. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />The item has been budgeted in the 2006 budget as $1,000 for one national conference <br />attendance. The budgeted funds would pay for transportation, lodging, and meals. The <br />North Suburban Cable Commission has agreed to pay the tuition of $495. <br /> <br />The conference will allow this new employee of the City to gain technical knowledge and <br />to build contacts within the cable communications profession. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached Resolution 6863, <br />authorizing the attendance of Communications Coordinator Blackford to attend the <br />NATOA conference, provided that, direct City expenditures do not to exceed the $1000 <br />designated in the 2006 budget for said purpose. <br />. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
