Resolution 6951, Approving Change Order No. 3 and Authorizing the 3
Installation of Front Doors for the Random Park Building Replacement 4
Project 5
6
Council Member Flaherty asked for further information and an explanation on Change Order No. 7
3 at Random Park. 8
9
Director Lee explained the doors replacement for Council noting that there was a set of doors at 10
the rear of the building that opened into the building and a side service door that opened out of 11
the building. He then said that the question was whether to have three doors on the front of the 12
building and Staff decided it did not make sense to have the side service door not knowing that it 13
was a requirement to have that door. He further explained that for public safety reasons a door 14
that opens out of the building is necessary and this would change the doors to open out. 15
16
Director Lee indicated that these doors were a lower quality type of residential door so there is a 17
benefit to changing them to a commercial style steel door. 18
19
Council Member Flaherty indicated that this is necessary but this should have been caught and he 20
does not agree with an automatic door opener at the cost of $2,000. 21
22
Council Member Stigney said that he thinks that the outside consultants should have been aware 23
of this so that bothers him but this needs to be corrected. 24
25
Council agreed to eliminate the automatic openers. 26
27
MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 6951, 28
Approving Change Order No. 3 and Authorizing the Installation of Front Doors for the Random 29
Park Building Replacement Project Without the Automatic Door Opener. 30
31
Council Member Thomas said that she thinks if a Change Order is being done it should not go on 32
the Consent Agenda. 33
34
Director Lee apologized and explained the reason for it being on the Consent Agenda was 35
because he was not going to be at this meeting. 36
37
Council Member Flaherty asked if this is the same architect as City Hall and said that he is very 38
disappointed that this was not caught. He then said that he would like Staff to send out letters 39
informing them that the City is dissatisfied with their service. 40
41
Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 42
43
9.
