\:;4114/1/L'' /46
MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
411 FROM: ADMINISTRATION SECRETARY/DEPUTY .Cd - ''
DATE: OCTOBER 31, 1990
SUBJECT: HOLIDAY OFFICE SCHEDULE
With the holiday season fast approaching employees are
questioning the holiday office schedule. Christmas Eve and
New Year's Eve both fall on Mondays . In the past the City
Council 's practice has been to close operations at 12:00 Noon
on both December 24 and December 31st and provide the employee
with four hours of paid holiday even though the City's
Personnel Code does not recognize Christmas Eve or New Year's
Eve as holidays .
Further, any employee wishing to have the morning of Christmas
Eve or New Year's Eve off should submit a request to their
Department Head for vacation or comp. time. Every effort has
been made in the past to accomodate all requests, however, all
departments have had to have adequate staffing levels during
these days.
Staff will await Council direction regarding this matter.
• /mjs
