' r •
AUG ' 90 7: 46 FROM ARCHITECTURAL ALLIANC PAGE . O11
•
OPTION C
Pros
•
The existing basement is emptied of people related functions. The Offices and Community
Room are moved_
The Community Room is enhanced(windows to the outside, increased area, and improved
public access).
Staff access con be provided internally through the shared Conference Room in the
Parks,Recreation,and Fortry/Public'Works area.
A separate 24-hour entrance is provided for the Police Department.
All Police Department offices have potential for outside windows.
The existing Community Room space could serve for Police Trai ing, other staff meetings,
Council Chamber overflow and public uses.
Overall there is more meeting space.
Cons •
The Council Chamber remains the same size though space is added for storage of media
equipment
•
The Waiting Area is inadegtiate.
The Waiting Area could, however,be extended to the east. These costs are included.
Both Option-1i and Option C are relatively equal in cost. The City of Mounds View may have
priorities in considering these options. Based upon information previously stated in the outline
and in the complete Space Needs Study,it is the recommendation of the architectsthat Option C
be implemented. Option C provides more meeting space than Option B induding an
above-ground Community Room. Construction sequencing would be more flexible and the
construction scope would be less disruptive for Option C
The City may want to consider an altonate deduct which would include the remodeling of a
future-vacated Water Filtration Facility into a new Community Room. The recommendation of
the architects is that the City proceed with the whole package to save the cost of re-staging of
construction and of inflation.
•
F-2
