• 6.07 <br /> Subdivision 2 . Without Examination. In case of <br /> appointment for positions for which examinations are not required, <br /> the appointing authority may appoint any person who appears to meet <br /> the requirements of the position and whom the appointing authority <br /> deems qualified to perform the duties of the position. <br /> Subdivision 3 . Relation to Other Municipal Personnel and <br /> Residents . Whenever possible, and with due regard for merit and <br /> fitness, the appointing authority shall avoid the appointment of <br /> any person when such person is related to any elected or appointed <br /> officer or employee of the Municipality. Appointment or <br /> assignments of persons related to any elected or appointed officer <br /> or employee in the same department is prohibited. <br /> 6 . 07 . PHYSICAL EXAMINATION. Unless otherwise <br /> exempted by the appointing authority, all successful applicants for <br /> municipal service shall undergo a physical examination which shall <br /> be conducted by a physician selected by the Council. All costs of <br /> the examinations shall be borne by the Municipality. <br /> 6 .08 . PROBATIONARY PERIOD. <br /> Subdivision 1. Purpose. The probationary period shall <br /> • be regarded as an integral part of the examination process and <br /> shall be utilized for closely observing the employee's work, for <br /> securing the most effective adjustment of the employee to his <br /> position, and for rejecting any employee whose performance does not <br /> meet the required work standards. <br /> Subdivision 2 . Duration. All original and promotional <br /> appointments shall be probationary and subject to a probationary <br /> period of six months service after appointment. At any time during <br /> the original probationary period an employee may be transferred to <br /> dismissed. At any time during the promotional probationary period, <br /> an employee may be placed in the pos f f-ion he ncr-iipied prQvi nils to <br /> promotion. <br /> Subdivision 3. Performance Reports . At the end of the <br /> first three months of the probationary period, the employee's <br /> supervisor shall submit a written report to the Clerk-Administra- <br /> tor on his observation of the employee's work and his judgement as <br /> to the employee's willingness and ability to perform his duties <br /> satisfactorily. <br /> Subdivision 4 . How Completed. At least ten days prior to <br /> the expiration of an employee's probationary period, the employee's <br /> supervisor shall make a written report to the appointing authority <br /> recommending the employee to be retained, dismissed or place in his <br /> 0 previous position. <br />
