6 . 30 • <br /> Wages shall not be paid for a holiday to an employee who <br /> is on leave of absence without pay the day before the holiday. 1111 <br /> 6 .31 COMPENSATION. <br /> Subdivision 1. Rates of Pay. Rates of pay for all <br /> employees shall be set by the Council. <br /> Subdivision 2 . Pay Periods . The pay period for all <br /> employees shall be fourteen calendar days. Each pay period shall <br /> commence at 12 :01 a.m. on a Saturday and end at 11:59 p.m. on a <br /> Friday, fourteen days later. Pay day shall be the Friday following <br /> the end of the pay period. When a pay day falls on a legal holiday <br /> employees shall be paid on the preceding work day. <br /> Subdivision 3 . Payroll Deductions . The automatic <br /> payroll deductions shall be made as required for federal and state <br /> government taxes, and the various pension plans . Employees may <br /> elect to have payroll deductions made for a municipal employee <br /> group insurance plan, United States Savings Bonds, charity drive <br /> contributions, union dues, and other authorized programs if <br /> mechanically possible. <br /> Subdivision 4 . Overtime Pay. <br /> Overtime pay is work performed in addition to the • <br /> employee's established schedule of work hours and shall only be <br /> performed with the approval of the employee's supervisor or Clerk- <br /> Administrator. <br /> a. All non-exempt employees will be paid at a rate of <br /> time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of 80 hours during <br /> a pay period as defined by 6 . 31, Subdivision 2 of this chapter. <br /> The hourly pay for overtime by salaried employees <br /> is determined by dividing the base monthly salary by 173 hours and <br /> . ' • ♦ ' . • ' . - _ • . -- . . <br /> b. Overtime shall not be paid to exempt employees . <br /> Subdivision 5 . Compensatory Time Off. <br /> a. Compensatory time may be given to non-exempt <br /> employees when in compliance with the Fair Labor <br /> Standards Act at a rate of one and one-half hours <br /> for each hour of overtime worked and must be taken <br /> within one month of the overtime for which it is <br /> granted unless prior arrangements have been made with <br /> the Department Head and the Clerk-Administrator. At <br /> no time shall compensatory time be allowed to <br /> accumulate in excess of 240 hours. • <br />
