6.37 <br /> . becoming involved with conflicting outside business interests . <br /> These include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> ( 1) Those in which an employee has financial interests <br /> in, or receives benefits from, a business in which he occupies a <br /> position which may enable him to influence the placing of municipal <br /> business either inside or outside the municipal government. <br /> (2) Those in which an employee accepts full or part- <br /> time work elsewhere, where such activity interferes with their <br /> duties and job performance for the Municipality. <br /> Subdivision 8. Political Activity. <br /> ( 1) No employee shall seek or accept election, <br /> nomination or appointment as an officer of a political club or <br /> organization which is taking an active part in a municipal <br /> political election except on behalf of his own candidacy. <br /> Employees are discouraged from actively campaigning for or against <br /> any candidate seeking municipal public office. <br /> (2) This section shall not be construed to prevent any <br /> employee from becoming or continuing to be a member of a political <br /> • club or organization or from attendance at a political meeting or <br /> from enjoying entire freedom from all interference in casting his <br /> vote or from seeking or accepting election or appointment to public <br /> office. <br /> (3) Any employee who shall become a candidate for any <br /> elective office of the Municipality shall automatically receive a <br /> leave of absence without pay and shall perform no duties connected <br /> with the position held by him until he is no longer a candidate. <br /> If the needs of the municipal service require, the vacancy created <br /> by his absence may be filled and his services terminated. <br /> (4) An employee who becomes an elected official of the <br /> Municipality shall be required to resign his employment with the <br /> Municipality. <br /> (5) No employee shall endorse a candidate and represent <br /> himself as an employee of the City by statement or picture in that <br /> endorsement. <br /> Subdivision 9 . Severability. This chapter is subject <br /> to the laws of the United States, the State and the Municipality. <br /> Each provision of the personnel chapter is deemed severable from <br /> any other provision. If any provision of this chapter shall be <br /> found invalid or void, the remaining provisions shall remain valid <br /> i <br />
