GLOSSARY • <br /> The following glossary of terms associated with adult entertainment uses has <br /> been compiled frau ordinances which are in effect in various communities <br /> throughout the nation. Both the terms used to identify certain adult <br /> entertainment uses and the definitions assigned to those terms vary <br /> considerably from cemrnznity to community.. Zhe terms listed below are typical <br /> of those found in many other ordinances. <br /> 1. Adult arcade shall mean any preuises to which members of the public or <br /> members of any club, group or association are admitted and permitted to <br /> use one or more arcade devices. <br /> 2. Adult Bookstore means an establishment having as a substantial or <br /> significant portion of its stock in trade books, magazines, and other <br /> periodicals which are distinguished or characterized by their emphasis on <br /> matter depiction, describing, or relating to "specified sexual activities" <br /> or "specified anatanical areas" (as defined below) , or an establishment <br /> with a -segment or section devoted to the sale or display of such material. <br /> 3. Adult business means either (1) any business which is conducted <br /> exclusively for the patronage of adults and as to which minors are <br /> specifically excluded L.L.la patronage thereat either by law or by the <br /> operators of such business except any business licensed by the state <br /> Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control; or (2) .any business, other than ("-those expressly specified in this article, -where employees or patrons <br /> expose specified anatomical areas or engage in specified sexual <br /> activities; or (3) any other business or establishment which offers its <br /> patrons services or entertainment characterized by an emphasis on matter <br /> depic ng, exposing, describing, discussing or relating to specified <br /> sexual activities or specified anatanical areas. <br /> 4. Adult cabaret means an establishment which provides dancing or other live <br /> entertainment, if such establishment excludes minors by virtue of age or <br /> if such dancing or other live entertainment is distinguished or <br /> characterized by an emphasis cn the performance, depiction or description <br /> of "Specified sexual activities" or "specified anatomical areas." <br /> 5. Adult conversation/rap parlor means a conversation/rap parlor which <br /> excludes minors by reason of age, or which provides the service of <br /> engaging in or listening to conversation, talk or discussion between an <br /> employee of the establishment and a customer, if such service is <br /> distinguished-or characterized by an emphasis on "specified sexual <br /> activities" or "spec' �'�,-' anatanical areas." <br /> 6. Adult dancing establishment means a business that features dancers <br /> displaying or exposing spe'-4 ,4 anatanical areas. <br /> 7. Adult encounter parlor means an establishment whose major business is the • <br /> provision of premises where customers either congregate, associate or <br /> consort with employees who engage in s -4=4�d sexual activities which or <br /> in the presence of such customers, or who display specified anatanical <br /> areas in the presence of such cstaner s, with the intent of providing <br /> sexual gratification to such customers. <br />
