Mounds View City Council April 11, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Thomas/Flaherty. To approve Items B, C, D, E, and F of the Consent 2 <br />Agenda as presented. 3 <br /> 4 <br /> Ayes-4 Nays-0 Motion carried. 5 <br /> 6 <br />C. Resolution 6494 Authorization to Purchase a Radar Speed Display Trailer 7 <br />from Decatur Electronics for $7450 utilizing forfeiture funds. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Flaherty asked how much is in the forfeiture fund right now. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Chief Sommer stated he wasn’t sure of the exact balance. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Finance Director Hanson stated it was in excess of $20,000. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Flaherty stated he was a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and he asked 16 <br />if they’ve checked into the quality of this. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Chief Sommer stated that Decatur is a manufacturer of police radar equipment, and they’ve been 19 <br />around for many years. He stated that this particular model is of good quality, and this one has 20 <br />the features that they are looking for. He stated in comparison to the other options, they were 21 <br />more expensive, and Decatur is a solid company that has been around for many years, and the 22 <br />quality will be adequate. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Stigney asked if the other one was purchased used, and if so, when. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Chief Sommer stated he didn’t have the exact date when it was purchased, but he knows almost 27 <br />every time they use it, they have to bring it in for repairs. He stated there are mechanical 28 <br />problems with the trailer, and it’s hardly worthwhile to continue to use it. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Acting Mayor Stigney asked about the warranty. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Chief Sommer stated the warranty is for two years for parts and labor. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Acting Mayor Stigney asked if it was temperature sensitive. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Chief Sommer stated that he believed it worked in cold temperatures, but if it snows on it, that 37 <br />can affect it a little bit. 38 <br /> 39 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Gunn/Flaherty. To approve Resolution 6494 Authorization to 40 <br />Purchase a Radar Speed Display Trailer from Decatur Electronics for $7450 utilizing 41 <br />forfeiture funds. 42 <br /> 43 <br /> Ayes-4 Nays-0 Motion carried. 44 <br /> 45
