Mounds View City Council May 23, 2005
Regular Meeting Page 22

1
Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 2
3
O. Resolution 6543 Resolution Approving a Revised 2004-2005 Police Officer 4
Contract. 5
6
City Administrator Ulrich noted this item was missed as an oversight and is being included as a 7
resolution revision because it was intended as a part of the severance section for the Police 8
Department. He stated that the additional language is consistent with the Police Sergeant and 9
they want to include in the local contract. 10
11
Council Member Stigney asked why they want to exclude the cash options. 12
13
City Administrator Ulrich explained that the main reason is because the union wanted it out. He 14
stated that the benefits were non-taxable for existing employees and if they only have the option 15
for a savings plan it would not be considered as a taxable benefit. He stated that they are trying 16
to encourage employees to take the Retirement and Health Savings Plan with this language 17
change. 18
19
Council Member Stigney suggested leaving it up to the employee as to whether they would like 20
to have it or not. 21
22
City Administrator Ulrich stated that the employees want the recommended language. 23
24
MOTION/SECOND Gunn/Flaherty To Approve Resolution 6543 Approving a Revised 2004-25
2005 Police Officer Contract. 26
27
Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 28
29
P.
