She apologized to Public Director Lee stating that she did not 1 have a chance to get to this item and contact him to ask her questions. She stated that she 2 couldn’t agree to changing the phone service without knowing more about what they are 3 switching to. She stated that she wants to know what they are looking at first. 4 5 Mayor Marty asked if Roseville has a number for them to call if they do have any problems. 6 7 Council Member Thomas stated that it would be great to say ‘who’ but that doesn’t give any idea 8 what the system is or who the provider is. She expressed concerns stating that they do not know 9 what they are signing up for. She stated that she understands the technology but that doesn’t tell 10 her anything about the service provider. 11 12 Council Member Gunn asked what would happen if this is postponed. 13 14 Public Works Director Lee stated that if this request is postponed to July 11th it would push back 15 the City Hall renovation by a month. He stated that right now they are looking at a mid-16 September start and this would push it into mid-October. He apologized noting that they are 17 limited staff here and in areas they are not experts in adding that they are trying to move this 18 along and bring these items to Council as soon as they can. 19 20 Council Member Flaherty asked if this is part of renovation budget. 21 22 Public Works Director Less confirmed that this is part of the soft costs involved in the City Hall 23 Renovation Project. 24 25 Council Member Gunn clarified that Roseville has had this system for a while now and asked if 26 they are satisfied with the system. She asked if there are other cities connected with this type of 27 service. 28 29 Public Works Director Lee confirmed that they have been on the system for a while and 30 absolutely love it. He noted that there are several other cities on this system and have not had 31 any problems. 32 33 Council Member Gunn stated that she is going to go with her gut instinct noting that if Roseville 34 is doing great and other cities have also committed with Roseville and they are not having 35 problems, she noted that because of the time constraints she is going to go with this proposal. 36 37 Council Member Stigney stated that he is in agreement with Council Member Thomas. He 38 expressed concerns stating that they don’t even know what kind of a phone system they have here 39 and now they are asking Council to approve a new system. He stated that there are too many 40 unanswered questions adding that he cannot support the installation of a new phone system at 41 this time. 42 43 Council Member Thomas clarified that she does not expect anyone’s service to fail. She stated 44 that she understands that this is a good quality service and in some cases better than analog 45
