Mounds View City Council September 12, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 18 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Mayor Marty read the resolution aloud. 2 <br /> 3 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 4 <br /> 5 <br />G. Resolution 6618 Authorizing Insurance Policies for the Year July 2005 6 <br />through June 2006 7 <br /> 8 <br />City Administrator Ulrich explained that Resolution 6618 authorizes Staff to enter into insurance 9 <br />policies and make payment of the premiums as they become due. Staff will continue to pursue 10 <br />cost savings with the insurance agent through increasing deductibles and changing the policy 11 <br />period to renew on January 1 through December 31. Staff recommends adoption of the 12 <br />resolution. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Marty stated this was a good call by the Finance Director and should save the City money. 15 <br /> 16 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Thomas/ Gunn. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6618 17 <br />Authorizing Insurance Policies for the Year July 2005 through June 2006. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Councilmember Stigney asked if the Ford 150 should be dropped and whether it should be 20 <br />insured for collision. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mary Tatarek, Finance stated she discussed this policy with Councilmember Stigney and City 23 <br />Administrator Ulrich. She explained that this question was asked of the insurance agent when 24 <br />the policy was set up for this time period. At that point in time, it was discussed that all vehicles 25 <br />six years or older would be taken off but then it was noted that some vehicles, such as in the 26 <br />Sewer Department, are still valued up to $100,000 so it was left to the department heads to 27 <br />decide the value of the vehicle and if they should be taken off. That issue was brought to the 28 <br />insurance agent who will bring it before the League of Minnesota Cities. After that, the insurance 29 <br />agent will get firm figures. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Councilmember Stigney asked if it can be dropped at any time. Mary Tatarek, Finance answered 32 <br />in the affirmative. 33 <br /> 34 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 35 <br /> 36 <br />H. Consideration of Fire Personnel Deployment to Louisiana 37 <br /> 38 <br />This item was considered following Agenda Item 8D. 39 <br /> 40 <br />I. Resolution 6620 Approving Step Increase for City Administrator Kurt Ulrich 41 <br /> 42 <br />Administrative Assistant/Acting Human Resources Representative Crane reviewed that Kurt 43 <br />Ulrich started employment with the City on July 21, 2003.
