City Administrator Ulrich stated Staff is in the process of 5 doing an inventory of the items at the golf course and will determine what items should have a 6 reserve. 7 8 MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Thomas. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6622 9 Accepting Proposal for Auction Services. 10 11 Councilmember Stigney asked whether the reserved items are excluded from the auction and if 12 items can be presold. City Administrator Ulrich stated selected items can be presold but some 13 limit would need to be set to assure there are enough items to auction. He stated he will check 14 with the auctioneer about selling items at market value prior to the auction. He advised that the 15 auctioneer recommended reserved prices not be set on too many items, but that it is worth 16 establishing on the larger items. 17 18 Councilmember Stigney asked if items could be presold, without commission to the auctioneer, 19 and if the items can be sold without advertising to another golf course. City Administrator Ulrich 20 stated he will check into that but the methods of advertising would be through the League of 21 Minnesota Cities. 22 23 Councilmember Stigney asked if the auctioneer will require each cart to be bid individually or 24 does the first cart buyer have the option to buy as many as he wants at that bid price. City 25 Administrator Ulrich stated the auction is typically done in lots but he will have to talk with the 26 auctioneer about that question. 27 28 Mayor Marty noted that some of the carts are in good condition but others are not. 29 30 Councilmember Stigney stated it seems to him it would be to the City’s advantage to allow the 31 high bidder to buy as many golf carts as he wants. City Administrator Ulrich stated there are 32 different golf cart models, some with tops, some without, and some with damage. 33 34 Councilmember Stigney stated someone asked him when they can inspect the items for presale 35 prior to the auction. City Administrator Ulrich stated he will talk with the auctioneer about that 36 and bring back the answers to the next Council meeting. 37 38 Mayor Marty noted the City has video equipment and other unused items that, perhaps, could 39 also be auctioned. City Administrator Ulrich stated that is an excellent suggestion and Staff will 40 make a list of those items for the Council’s review. 41 42 Mayor Marty expressed concern with the sale of old computers because of information contained 43 on the hard drive. 44 45
