Mounds View City Council August 9, 2004 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Quick asked how much money was put into the golf course annually. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Finance Director Hansen stated in 2003 the internal loan had been increased by about $300,000, 4 <br />but that other years have been lower. He stated there was extraordinary maintenance in 2003 in 5 <br />terms of restoring green number nine. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Council Member Quick asked if that was due to vandalism, and Finance Director Hansen 8 <br />answered that it was. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Economic Development Coordinator Backman stated that the title search would be completed in 11 <br />approximately two weeks. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Stigney asked if there was any additional information available relative to the 14 <br />party who may be interested in purchasing the golf course 15 <br /> 16 <br />Economic Development Coordinator Backman stated at this point he still did not know who the 17 <br />end user was, but that the broker indicated they are working with a substantial company that has 18 <br />an interest in acquiring the property. He stated there has been useful information provided such 19 <br />as soil borings, wetland delineation, and a hydrology report, which was well received. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Mr. Werner asked Mayor Linke what his stand would be on getting rid of the golf course. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mayor Linke stated he did not have the information in front of him to make an informed decision 24 <br />at this time. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mr. Werner asked Mayor Linke if he was encouraging the study to go in a certain direction, and 27 <br />Mayor Linke replied that he was not. 28 <br /> 29 <br />David Jahnke stated there are plenty of other golf courses in the area, and he has the feeling there 30 <br />are a few who want to keep this golf course at any cost. He stated he never heard of anybody 31 <br />paying a million dollars for a losing business. He thanked Council Members Gunn and Stigney 32 <br />for voting to have the study done. 33 <br /> 34 <br />6. CITY BUDGET QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS 35 <br /> 36 <br />None. 37 <br /> 38 <br />7.
