Mounds View EDA October 12, 2012
Regular Meeting Page 3

88
President Flaherty thanked the EDC for assisting with the vision for County Road 10. He 89
appreciated their input. 90
91
Commissioner Mueller asked how many members would serve on the task force. Economic 92
Development Specialist Steinmetz proposed having two Councilmembers, two EDC members 93
along with a local business representative and one or more residents. 94
95
Commissioner Mueller questioned if the business representative had to be located on the County 96
Road 10 corridor. Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz would be pleased with 97
participation from any local business representative. She commented the position could be 98
advertised in a number of ways to gain volunteers. 99
100
President Flaherty noted several members on the EDC were local business owners. He was in 101
favor of the task force not becoming too big as this may hinder progress. 102
103
Vice President Stigney suggested the task force also discuss the financial restraints within the 104
vision along with architectural desires for the corridor. 105
106
President Flaherty commented a timetable would also be helpful for the task force. 107
108
Executive Director Ericson indicated this item could be placed on the November work session 109
agenda to allow for further discussion on the direction and framework for the task force. The 110
EDA agreed with this recommendation. 111
112
President Flaherty requested that the EDC be invited to attend this meeting to provide comments. 113
He asked that the 2002 comprehensive plans also be made available to each EDA member prior 114
to that meeting. Executive Director Ericson stated he would have this information available. 115
116
Vice President Stigney recommended staff also create a list of grant opportunities that would be 117
available to the City with meeting the goals of the vision. Economic Development Specialist 118
Steinmetz explained she could create a list of grants, but noted many of the grants would require 119
a match from the City. 120
121
Commissioner Mueller questioned if Ramsey County was willing to assist with lead based paint 122
testing for the County owned signals along County Road 10. Economic Development Specialist 123
Steinmetz stated that at this time, the County was not willing to assist with the testing. 124
125
Commissioner Gunn indicated Ramsey County would need to become involved in the corridor 126
discussions in the future. Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz commented it would be 127
good for the City to partner with Ramsey County from the beginning as the County does own 128
County Road 10. 129
