Resolution 5923, Approving a 3% Cost of Living Increase and a $557.55 4 <br />Monthly Health Insurance Contribution for Non-Union Employees in 2003 5 <br /> 6 <br />Finance Director Hansen indicated one of the employee unions settled for 2003 and that included 7 <br />a three percent (3%) cost of living adjustment and an adjustment to the monthly City contribution 8 <br />to health to $557.55. He then indicated that Resolution 5923 would extend the same conditions 9 <br />to those that are not members of bargaining units. 10 <br /> 11 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 5923, a 12 <br />Resolution Approving a 3% Cost of Living Increase and a $557.55 Monthly Health Insurance 13 <br />Contribution for Non-Union Employees in 2003. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Stigney commented that last year there was a 4% increase for nonunion 16 <br />employees, the year before 3%, and this year 3%. He then said that he sometimes feels that as 17 <br />government employees they are getting ahead of the game and noted that federal retirees and 18 <br />social security recipients received 1.4% last year and 2.2% this year. He further commented that 19 <br />he thinks someone should look at what the City is paying its employees and he does not think 20 <br />that the City can continue to offer percentage increases every year. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 23 <br /> 24 <br />9. REPORTS 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Marty indicated that Northwest Youth and Family Services seeks out 27 <br />individuals from the community who have done outstanding service to youth and this year’s 28 <br />award recipient is John Deppa and the City if proud of him. The awards banquet is scheduled for 29 <br />February 13, 2003 and is open to the public. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Council Member Marty indicated he had watched the tape of the last meeting and there are a 32 <br />number of issues that he would like to revisit and one is with regard to the personnel policy. HE 33 <br />then suggested adding the personnel policy to the work session agenda in February. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated he would also like to discuss the compensation package and 36 <br />how the City bases its pay as he does not feel it is in the City’s best interest to use the Stanton 37 <br />information. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Council Member Gunn had no report. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Council Member Quick asked Staff to look into what other municipalities are doing with regard 42 <br />to compensation and make a report at the work session. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Mayor Linke had no report. 45
