Mounds View City Council February 10, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 16 <br /> <br />City Attorney Riggs indicated that the Committee did not deal with specific employees because 1 <br />the City has provisions in the personnel policy that would deal with that. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Mayor Linke indicated he feels this is something that the Administrator and the department heads 4 <br />should be doing. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Gunn asked how often the Committee met. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated it was not very often. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Quick indicated that, at one time, there were meetings fairly regularly. 11 <br /> 12 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Quick. To Table Resolution 5945. 13 <br /> 14 <br /> Ayes – 3 Nays – 2(Marty/Linke) Motion carried. 15 <br /> 16 <br /> F. Discuss Options for Filling the City Administrator Vacancy. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated Staff did some research at Council direction into 19 <br />what other cities could do to assist the City with filling the City Administrator vacancy. He then 20 <br />said that Roseville was the cheapest at $32.00 per hour with an estimate that the work would take 21 <br />approximately 80 hours. He also indicated that the common request was for clear definitions of 22 <br />what the City wants in an administrator. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Marty indicated the job description from the last time a City Administrator was 25 <br />hired should be used. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Council asked for a copy of the job description. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Quick suggested directing Staff to meet with the top groups and ask for 30 <br />clarification of what services would be provided for the fee. Those groups would be New 31 <br />Brighton, First Site Staffing, Roseville and Labor Relations. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mayor Linke indicated he liked that Roseville gave an approximate number of hours to complete 34 <br />the project. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson asked whether Council was interested in being interviewed 37 <br />by the group selected so that the group can get an idea of the characteristics or traits Council is 38 <br />looking for. 39 <br /> 40 <br />There was consensus to meeting with the search firm or group selected to discuss what Council 41 <br />wants in terms of its City Administrator. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Council Member Stigney asked if the City would be handling the advertising. 44 <br /> 45
