Mounds View City Council March 10, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 20 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Golf Course Manager Burg indicated she did not think it would be any more or less secure than 2 <br />email. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the City has a very secure system and benefits from 5 <br />the City of Roseville having numerous checks and security systems that prohibit hacking and the 6 <br />City has been fortunate not to have any issues with that. He then commented that approval of 7 <br />this system would eliminate the need for a separate internet connection at the golf course which 8 <br />costs the City 50.00 per month. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Mayor Linke asked if a daily report could be done until there is a system in place. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Golf Course Manager Burg further explained the system and its report generating options. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Stigney asked whether Staff looked into the price of high speed cable or 15 <br />wireless remote. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Golf Course Manager Burg indicated she had asked for that information but had not yet received 18 <br />it. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the cost would be slightly less than $2,000 as 21 <br />equipment has gone down in price from the time the City first looked at it. He then said that the 22 <br />City is not sure that Comcast would be able to connect the golf course. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Stigney asked whether the system would give a breakdown of costs charged for 25 <br />the round or just the number of rounds. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Golf Course Manager Burg indicated the system would provide any information asked for. She 28 <br />then explained she had checked with other courses that are using the system the way the City 29 <br />intends to and this is the system they were using. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Council Member Quick asked if the system would provide the total amount sold if the entire 32 <br />course were rented out. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Golf Course Manager Burg indicated it would show the transactions for that time period but 35 <br />would provide the information if it is entered into the system the number of people times the cost 36 <br />of the rounds. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Council Member Quick asked if there is a policy for renting the entire course. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Golf Course Manager Burg indicated she had located an old contract for group rental but there is 41 <br />no policy. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Council Member Stigney asked if the system would save Staff time or only provide better 44 <br />information. 45
