Mounds View City Council April 14, 2003
Regular Meeting Page 16

1
E. Consideration of Resolution 5980, a Resolution Approving a Development 2
Review Request for a 780 Square Foot Building Expansion at 2865 County 3
Highway 10. 4
5
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that this item is a request for a development review 6
for the property owned by Greg Johnson at 2865 County Highway 10, Johnson’s Trailer Hitch. 7
Mr. Johnson would like to expand the business by 780 square feet bringing the building closer to 8
the house. He then indicated that the expansion would not increase any setbacks or encroach into 9
any setbacks and Staff does not feel that any neighbors would even see the expansion based on 10
the depth of the lots in the area. 11
12
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that the Planning Commission reviewed this 13
request and has unanimously recommended approval. He then noted that Mr. Johnson has 14
indicated that he intends to match the current exterior of the building and enhance the front with 15
a brick treatment to make the building more appealing. 16
17
MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Quick. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 5980, a 18
Resolution Approving a Development Review Request for a 780 Square Foot Building 19
Expansion at 2865 County Highway 10. 20
21
Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 22
23
F. Reconsideration of a Recommendation to Post the East Side of Greenfield 24
Avenue as “No Parking” 350 Feet South from the Corner of County Road I 25
and Greenfield Avenue. 26
27
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated the Planning Commission, as requested, had 28
reviewed its recommendation for no parking and, after discussion, has upheld its prior 29
recommendation for no parking. He then indicated that the Commission discussed allowing four 30
parking stalls directly across from the business and posting no parking from that point to the 350 31
feet and was not necessarily opposed to the suggestion but felt Council could make that 32
determination. He further indicated that Staff has reviewed the parking situation and re-striping 33
the parking lot does not provide enough space to add any parking spaces but it is possible to 34
obtain two spots by expanding the parking lot. 35
36
Mayor Linke asked if Mr. Farrell had put it in writing that he would add the two additional stalls. 37
38
Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that it had not been put in writing but Mr. Farrell 39
has expressed a willingness to add the two additional spots and is waiting for the second layer of 40
asphalt until a determination is made as to the parking. 41
42
Mr. Farrell indicated he would be willing to agree to expand the parking lot in writing and said 43
the asphalt company is waiting to hear from him about the expansion. 44
45
