Mounds View City Council April 14, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 19 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that there was input from the community and after a 2 <br />lot of discussion and consideration the Planning Commission approved the variance for the 3 <br />setback. He then said that this same issue will need to be revisited with the two southern lots 4 <br />within that development. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Marty commented that he had heard that there was a study that traffic slows 7 <br />down when the houses are setback at varying setbacks. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that it is true that the speed at which people travel is 10 <br />directly related to the surroundings and varies depending upon those surroundings. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson at last meeting at work session talked about purchasing 13 <br />policy and a question was raised about meal allowances. He then indicated that the meal 14 <br />allowance is based on the IRS guidelines and that was $44.00 last year and is $50.00 this year 15 <br />breaking out to 25% for breakfast, 30% for lunch and the remainder for dinner. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated there was a second meeting of the YMCA 18 <br />Executive Advisory Committee that Council Members Gunn and Marty attended. He then 19 <br />indicated that the Committee is reviewing the agreement and brainstorming as to what could or 20 <br />should be done to make the programs and operation better. The next meeting is Tuesday, May 21 <br />27, 2003. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Council Member Marty indicated it was discussed at that meeting whether the YMCA should be 24 <br />required to make quarterly reports to Council. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Quick asked if the meeting was televised. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated it was not. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Council Member Quick asked if it should be. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated Council had discussed whether to televise those 33 <br />meetings and had made the determination not to but there is no reason why it could not be. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Linke asked Staff to contact the Cable Committee to determine whether there is time for 36 <br />telecasting that meeting. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated that Mr. Gammel is limited to 20 hours per week 39 <br />but said he would check with the other two technicians for availability. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that there was once a Charter Commission meeting at the 42 <br />Community Center and there was a still camera used to tape it and then it was replayed. 43 <br /> 44
