Mounds View City Council August 25, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Community Development Director Ericson indicated there is a performance evaluation with 20 1 <br />different criteria and a majority of those criteria must be met in order to receive the satisfactory 2 <br />rating. 3 <br /> 4 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Quick. To Approve Resolution No. 6071, a Resolution Approving 5 <br />a Step Increase for Kathi Osmonson, Mounds View’s Building Official and Fire Marshal. 6 <br /> 7 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Marty indicated he had asked that this item be pulled to make residents aware 10 <br />of the County’s proposal to close the suburban courthouse. He then asked Staff to explain the 11 <br />difference in the amended Resolution. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that this issue has been ongoing for at least 18 years and the County is 14 <br />attempting to close the only remaining suburban courthouse and force all court cases to go to St. 15 <br />Paul and that will seriously impact residents and City Staff, particularly officers have to go to 16 <br />court. 17 <br /> 18 <br />City Administrator Ulrich indicated there was a meeting today with Judge Mott and 19 <br />approximately 40 interested individuals and he has admitted that a suburban court does make 20 <br />sense and is willing to look at it although it may not be in Maplewood. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Linke indicated the City has vacant space that the County could rent. 23 <br /> 24 <br />City Administrator Ulrich indicated the language in the Resolution concerning the judge not 25 <br />being cooperative was removed because it did not suit the purpose of the Resolution. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Council Member Quick commented that the County is proposing this as a money saving option 28 <br />for them. 29 <br /> 30 <br />City Administrator Ulrich indicated that it may save the County money but pushes the costs off 31 <br />to the City. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Council Member Quick indicated he would be willing to pay a little more through a County Levy 34 <br />to keep a suburban courthouse. 35 <br /> 36 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Gunn. To Approve the Resolution Opposing Closure of Suburban 37 <br />Courthouse. 38 <br /> 39 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 40 <br /> 41
