Mounds View City Council August 25, 2003
Regular Meeting Page 9

F. Resolution 6081, a Resolution Authorizing Insurance Policies for the Year 1
July 2003 through June 2004. 2
3
Finance Director Hansen reviewed the insurance policy renewals with Council indicating that the 4
premiums rose substantially this year as a relatively low claims year dropped off and a higher 5
claim year was added. He then indicated that despite the increase Staff recommends renewal 6
with the League of Minnesota Cities as any profit is returned to the City in terms of dividends. 7
8
Council Member Stigney asked what the liquor liability coverage is for. 9
10
Finance Director Hansen indicated it was for the sale of beer at the golf course. 11
12
Council Member Stigney asked if that is accounted for by the golf course. 13
14
Mayor Linke asked what protection the open meeting law coverage provides and whether 15
Council Members are individually covered. 16
17
Finance Director Hansen indicated that it provides for defense of the City in the event that 18
someone alleged a violation of the open meeting law but he is not sure whether or not it would 19
provide protection to individual Council Members. He then offered to review the policy and 20
provide a report to Council. 21
22
MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Stigney. Resolution 6082, a Resolution Setting an Interest Rate and Administrative 28
Fee for Special Assessments Certified During 2003. 29
30
Finance Director Hansen indicated that the City would be doing a number of special assessment 31
levies this fall and he feels it would be most fair to set certain factors for all assessments. The 32
first is to set an interest rate and the second is a one time administrative fee for each parcel 33
included in the levy. He then recommended setting the interest rate at 4.5% and an 34
administrative fee of $25.00. 35
36
MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Marty.
