Item No. 7F <br />Type of Business: CB <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Charles Hansen, Finance Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 5776 Hiring a Temporary Employee to <br />Fill the Cable TV Technician Position <br />Date of Report: May 23, 2002 <br /> <br /> <br />Patrick Toth resigned as Cable TV Technician and his last day was April 24, <br />2002. We had anticipated that the City could receive support from the North <br />Suburban Communications Commission (NSCC) to cover a minimum set of <br />responsibilities until new staff is hired. It turns out that NSCC has staff shortages <br />of its own and has been able to provide little support. <br /> <br />Attached is a memo written by Patrick Toth prior to his departure outlining a <br />minimum set of tasks needed to support ongoing cable TV broadcasts. Many of <br />these haven’t been performed since April 24th. The City’s remaining part-time <br />Cable TV Operator and the NSCC staff should be able to tape all City Council <br />meetings and most commission meetings. <br /> <br />I have contacted Robert Half International and arranged for the temporary <br />services of a person. She has experience working in cable TV for another <br />suburb and should be well qualified to handle the duties outlined. <br /> <br />The rate the City will pay for her is $35.00 per hour. When this is viewed in the <br />context that the 2002 budget provided $19.00 per hour plus fringe benefits for the <br />Cable TV Technician and that there must be overhead and a profit margin for <br />Robert Half, it isn’t unreasonable.
